Winners of the 'June is Audiobook Month' Drawing!

OK, another 'June is Audiobook Month' has passed and I've got the names of the five winners who will each receive one book of their choice from my recordings.  Between the initial announcement here and the one I posted on here on Goodreads, we had 17 entries.  As usual, I had my husband, George, choose the winners using our very 'high-tech' method.

Selecting the winners.

This year's winners are SS, Darlene, Lisa, Shane, and tarafarah7.

I'll be notifying all of the winners via email.  You just need to check out my books on Audible here and let me know which book you would like.  Then I'll send you a code with a link to that book along with instructions for claiming it.

Congratulations to the winners and a big 'Thank You' to everyone who took the time to enter!

Check back here same time next year for another 'June is Audiobook Month' giveaway!

Winners of 'June is Audiobook Month' drawing!

Well, another June has passed and I held my drawing for my audiobook giveaway originally posted here.   As usual, I had my husband, George, select from the names on slips of paper from a bowl (very scientific).

OK, so this picture is actually from the first year I held a drawing.  Now George just pulls torn scraps of paper from a Tupperware bowl but this picture looks so much nicer.

Without further ado, this year's 10 winners are:  nrlymrtl, Todd Vogel, Leslie Fisher, Michael Flanagan, skinmaan, jmcgaugh, Megan, Pauline Wiles, Julie Valerie, and Sandie Docker.  Congratulations to the winners and thank you to everyone who entered!

The winners have all been notified but if you see your name here and haven't received an email, please let me know.

Same time, next year!  Until then -- keep listening!

I'm having an audiobook giveaway on my website to celebrate June is Audiobook Month.  Just leave a comment -- even a brief 'hello' -- in the section on the bottom of this page.   At the end of June, I'll have a random drawing and 5 people will win their choice of any of my audiobooks.  Here's the current selection on Audible.

Good luck and keep listening!

It's June! That means it's Audiobook Month!

Yes, it's that time of the year again.  Audiobook Month.  A chance to celebrate audiobooks and post one of my favorite Ryan Gosling "Hey Girl" memes.

Audiobooks are becoming more and more popular as people find they have less time to read -- particularly for pleasure.  I tend to listen to a book when I'm doing something mindless like housework and/or exercise.  I've always read before going to bed (my nightstand is never without a book along with the current issue of The New Yorker and/or Vanity Fair on it).  But there are some nights when my brain is willing but my eyes are tired after a long stint spent recording from a Kindle in my booth/closet and/or editing files on my desktop.  On those nights, I put one ear bud in my ear from my Sansa MP3 player and continue listening after turning out the lights.  It's so soothing.  Right now I'm in the middle of Daphne Du Maurier's Rebecca narrated by the late actress Anna Massey.  I'm loving it.

I actually downloaded Rebecca for free from Audiofile's SYNC program.  Each summer, Audiofile hosts downloads of two free audiobooks each week -- a current book and a classic one -- donated from various publishers.  The SYNC program runs from May 7th through August 13th -- that's 14 weeks of 2 free audiobooks each week.  You can sign up for email alerts so you don't miss out when the new books are released.  Here's the official 'purpose' of SYNC:  "SYNC is a program that gives away two complete audiobook downloads — a current Young Adult title paired thematically with a Classic or Required Summer Reading title — each week to listeners ages 13+ while SYNC is in session each summer."  So head on over here and sign up now!

There are also a lot of contests and drawings going on this month for audiobooks.  A good way to keep pace is to look up the hashtags #audiobookmonth and #JIAM2015 on Twitter.  LOTS of good stuff out there!  I plan to have a drawing for free copies of any of my recordings a little later this month.  When I do, I'll post here and advertise on Twitter, Goodreads and Facebook.  Until then, keep listening!

Winners chosen for Audiobook Giveaway!

Today is June 30th, the last day of June and the last day of Audiobook Month!  As promised, once again I used my high-tech method for choosing two winners for my final drawing for this year's Audiobook Month.  (See photo.)  Drumroll...  the winners are Powder River Rose and Patricia Mann!  I'll be contacting both of them and they each get to choose an audiobook from my recordings on Audible.  My list of recordings can be found here.   Congratulations to the winners and thank you to all who entered!

Another Audiobook Giveaway for 'June is Audiobook Month!'

As promised earlier this month, I'm having another audiobook giveaway/drawing to celebrate 'June is Audiobook Month.'  Once again, there will be two winners chosen but this time the winners will be able to select a book from my recordings.  For a list of what I currently have available check on Audible here.   To enter, just leave a comment either here -- it can be the name of the book you'd like or 'I'm in!' or just 'Hi' -- or on this post on Facebook.   Just check my Facebook page.  The entry should be open to the public:  https://www.facebook.com/lee.a.howlett?fref=nf

If you find that you're still having a problem leaving a comment to enter, just shoot me an email at LAHOWLETT (at) yahoo (dot) com

On June 30th, two names will be drawn and the winners may choose their own title from my Audible list.  Once again, I'll be employing my 'high-tech' method of slips of paper in a glass bowl and my husband, George will choose the winners.

Just like last time -- George will select the winners!

If you're looking for other giveaways and freebies for audiobook month, search for the term #audiomonth on Twitter.  This drawing runs for 10 days but some of the other offers are for a shorter term, so start searching.  There are a bunch of them out there so check it out and treat yourself!

Winners of the audiobook giveaway!

My husband, George, just pulled the two winning names for my #JIAM June is Audiobook Month giveaway.  Both names won a download of my latest audiobook, Marilyn Monroe: My Little Secret by Tony Jerris.

And the winners are:  Georgia and Betsie!

Please contact me with your email address here: LAHOWLETT@yahoo.com so that I can gift you the book via Audible.  Thanks to everyone who entered here or on Facebook.

I plan to have another giveaway the last week of June where the winner gets to make his/her own choice of my recordings available on Audible.

Congrats to the winners!

George choosing the winners.

June is Audiobook Month! Chance for a free book!

Along with my annual excuse to post my favorite meme featuring Ryan Gosling, June is Audiobook month!  I decided to hold a drawing the first week of #JIAM for two free downloads from Audible of my latest recording, Marilyn Monroe: My Little Secret by Tony Jerris.  This will be very scientific.  Just leave a comment below -- even if all you do is say 'Hi' -- and next Sunday two winners will be chosen to be gifted a free copy.  For the 'drawing' part of it, I plan to print and cut out the comments, fold them up and place them in a bowl.  Then I'll have my husband, George, pick two of the entries to determine the winners.  Oooh -- that's some high-tech stuff.

If you've never listened to an audiobook before, consider this a chance to find out what it's like.  While I'm at it, I'd like to give a big shout-out to LibriVox -- a site that offers free recordings of books in the Public Domain.  (That would be books published before 1923 in the U.S.)  Check them out if you've never been to their site.  I don't record as much for them as I used to but I try to never miss the weekly poetry reading.

Have a great week and, remember, leave a comment below for a chance to win the Marilyn book!
